How DuraFlex Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

• DuraFlex SW (stainless steel flexible liner) - crevice corrosion at the tee connection. The SW series uses a 316Ti stainless alloy that holds up well to normal flue gases, but in Sherman Oaks we see accelerated pitting where the tee body meets the flex section, especially in homes within a mile of Ventura Boulevard where older fireboxes run cooler and produce more condensate. The condensate pools in the tee crevice, the alloy breaks down from the outside in, and you get a pinhole leak that shows up as water staining on the firebox wall.
